This side yard slope was transformed into a transition garden using basalt steps and boulders leading to a patio. The steps and path meander to a landing area before stepping down to the main patio. The turns in the steps provide space for small ornamental trees and plant material. The boulders are positioned and installed to mimic natural rock outcroppings. This project was also featured in a trade publication; tap each thumbnail below for more details. [USDA hardiness zone 9a, Lake Oswego, OR.]
